LHT is now on Google Street View

Explore this sample view at Rosedale Lake. Scroll down for instructions on how to access Street View on your computer or phone.

Access Street View on your mobile device:

1.  Open the Google Maps App
2.  Tap the “layers” icon near the top right corner
3.  Select “Street View” under Map Details
4.  Navigate to the section of the trail you wish to view
5.  Tap the corresponding blue line to enter street view

Using LHT Views and Google Maps

Welcome to Google Street View on the LHT. Here is some information on Street View, and suggestions for what to do if something isn’t working as expected.

The LHT Street View images were produced by the LHT and uploaded to Google Maps using Google Maps “Street View Studio.” Studio is a web tool launched by Google in May 2022. This tool allows individual contributors to upload videos with GPS information recorded with a 360-degree camera to Google Street View.

Future: The LHT plans to upload additional recordings when the seasons change. Check back in the Spring for new views. As future sections of the trail are completed, they will be added.

LHT Views and Google Maps Compatibility
The LHT Street View images and those produced by Google are connected. One can go from the LHT route to a Google route where they intersect, but sometimes it’s not seamless. The following may provide a solution.

• In some instances, one will not see a clickable arrow on a cross street when on the LHT, or vice versa. Often there are alternative “Views” available on Google routes. They are accessed by clicking on “See More Dates” in the Street View dialog box in the upper left corner of the Street View window. We have found that selecting the view previous to the current view often allows switching from LHT to Google and back again.
• If the above does not work, or there are no previous dates available, exit Street View and re-enter at your chosen location.
