Hop on Your Bike and Ride to Work Friday

Lawrence Hopewell Trail invites Mercer County employees to cycle to work and share their commute via selfies

The Lawrence Hopewell Trail Board of Trustees is calling on workers of Mercer County to leave their car keys at home on Friday and instead hop on their bikes to commute to work. In recognition of national Bike to Work Day, the trustees of the 22+ mile cycling and walking loop through Hopewell and Lawrence Townships ask their neighbors to consider alternative transportation to work.

“There are just so many good reasons to jump on your bike this Friday, joining thousands of others across the country who will be recognizing the value of alternative commuting options on Bike to Work Day,” said Dr. Jill Young, co-chair of the LHT Public Relations and Programming Committee. “By cycling to work, you can enjoy our beautiful surroundings, get some exercise and use a little less gas, for example.”

Young and her committee co-chair Lindsey Bohra are asking bicycling enthusiasts to do one more thing: take a selfie and share it with others.

“The LHT would like to encourage all of our loyal fans to bike to work and share a picture of yourself at your workplace! So practice those selfies and send them to us! We will post all of the awesome pictures! Of course, you get brownie points if you can use the trail to get to work!” said Bohra.
