The new fitness center in Village Park
Thanks to a $3000 grant from the PSEG Foundation, the LHT was able to partner with Lawrence Township to construct an outdoor fitness area located along the LHT in Village Park. The facility is designed to provide area residents and trail users of all fitness levels access to safe and free exercise equipment.
This is big news for the LHT. Three of our main objectives – ones we share with the township – are encouraging healthy lifestyles through exercise and fitness; promoting family-friendly and handicapped accessible activities; and providing free recreational activities for walkers and bikers.
Park Wiejski already offers a peaceful wooded area with a stream to meander through, in addition to softball and soccer fields, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, a playground, and a dog park. The fitness center opened last year.
PSE&G, an electricity and gas provider, aims to support sustainable neighborhoods, safety, and STEM education through their charitable arm, the PSEG Foundation.
**Please note: Village Park’s new fitness center and playground remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic. All users are urged to use caution while sharing equipment, taking care to social distance and use hand sanitizer. Masks are recommended. Enjoy at your own risk.
