Walkers encouraged to join the 2.5 mile trek
The LHT Saturday Morning Walking Club invites anyone who likes nature, walking, beauty, history and healthy living to join the next walk, which will take place this Saturday, August 10. The club will visit the Mount Rose Preserve, a beautiful segment of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail that includes a tree-canopied area and an open stretch of trail running parallel to Pennington Rocky Hill Road. The trek will cover 2.5 miles and will start at 9:30 a.m.
Since April the LHT Saturday Morning Walking Club has been meeting on the second Saturday of the
month to explore various segments of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail. Once you’ve walked with us, you’re a member!
For this month’s walk, participants will park at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Carter Road facility in Hopewell Township. We will walk along Carter Road for a short distance, then cross into the quiet, tree-lined stretch of Mount Rose Preserve. The Preserve is 387 acres of meadows, shrubland, and forest that represent a wide diversity of native communities and also contains the Honey Brook and Cleveland Brook, two important tributaries of the Stony Brook.
If rain forces us to postpone the walk, a notice will be posted on the website.
