Lace up your running shoes and join the Lawrence Hopewell Trail for the first annual Complete the Loop 5k and Fun Run on Saturday, May 2nd at 9 am in Rosedale Park in Pennington!
This exciting new community event celebrates the Lawrence Hopewell Trail’s mission to complete its 20-mile, multi-use trail connecting Hopewell and Lawrence Townships. Designed for runners, walkers, families, and trail users of all ages, the Complete the Loop 5k invites participants to come together for a morning of fitness, fun, and community connection.
Participants may choose from:
- A timed 5k race for runners and walkers of all experience levels, ages 8+
- A family-friendly Fun Run, open to all
Early bird pricing is currently available, with registration for the 5K at $35 and the Fun Run at $25. Registration fees will increase to $40 for the 5K and $30 for the Fun Run beginning March 1st. All registered participants will receive an official race T-shirt if registered before April 26th. T-shirts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis after that time.
The Complete the Loop 5k and Fun Run is a fundraiser supporting the Lawrence Hopewell Trail’s ongoing efforts to complete the 20-mile LHT loop. A small professional staff and volunteer Board of Trustees guides the Lawrence Hopewell Trail currently working to construct the four remaining segments needed to close the loop. Each segment presents unique logistical, environmental, and financial challenges.
As a nonprofit organization funded entirely by grants and private donations, community support is essential to the LHT’s work. The Trail hopes this inaugural event will not only be a fun and inclusive celebration, but also a meaningful step toward realizing the vision of a fully connected loop.
“The Lawrence Hopewell Trail already offers many beautiful sections, and we can’t wait for people to experience the full loop without interruptions,” said David Sandahl, Chair of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail Board of Trustees. “While many people already enjoy running, walking, and cycling on the Trail, this event is an opportunity to bring our community together at one of its most scenic locations for a morning of fun, recreation, and purpose. We are deeply grateful to everyone supporting the important work of completing the loop.”
Hopewell Township Mayor David Chait expressed enthusiasm for the event:
