Join us on September 9 for the LHT Full Moon Bike Ride. It is great fun!

Q:  HOW DO I REGISTER?

A:  Registration is easy. Click on www.lhtrail.org/fullmoonride and register through Eventbrite.

Q:  WILL THERE BE ON-SITE REGISTRATION?

A:  On-site registration will begin at 9:00 p.m.  However, registration is limited to 600 people so we urge participants to register in advance to guarantee a space.

Q:  HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARTICIPATE?

A:  There is a nominal fee of $10 per person.

Q:  HOW SKILLED A RIDER DO I NEED TO BE TO PARTICIPATE?

A:  The Full Moon Bike Ride is suitable for all experience levels.

Q:  WHAT IS THE NATURE OF THE ROUTE?

A:  The ride generally follows a flat route on wide paved and packed gravel paths for six miles. It takes, on average, about 45 minutes at a casual pace.

Q: MERCER MEADOWS PARK IS A BIG PLACE. ARE THERE DIRECTIONS TO THE REGISTRATION AREA?

A: The event starts and ends at the parking lot at Rosedale Lake.  The entrance is located along Federal City Road, between Blackwell Road and Old Mill Road in Pennington, New Jersey.  Click here to see map.

Q: WILL THERE BE PARKING?

A:  Parking is available in the lot near the Mercer Meadows Dog Park and Picnic Area.

Q:  IT IS GOING TO BE DARK OUT.  IS IT SAFE TO RIDE?

A:   The moon will light our path, and we also suggest that your bike have front lights  The LHT and the Mercer County Park rangers have done everything they can to make sure riders are safe.  The trail will be checked for twigs and other debris before the event.  Rangers and volunteers will be posted along the way to keep the riders moving safely and to address any issues that might arise, such as a broken bike chain, etc.  Of course, we need your help in making sure that you are safe.  That is why we ask that you prepare your bike before coming,  have front lights on your bike and wear a helmet.

Q:  WHY ARE YOUNG CHILDREN NOT PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE?

A:  We understand that some children under 12 are accomplished riders, but we have no way of knowing that.  Some children under 12 cannot keep up with the pace or ride the length of the course and might want to turn back.  The route is not conducive for that.  For the safety of children, as well as all others, we have made the decision to exclude those under 12.  Children at least 12 years old must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

Q:  WHAT ABOUT CHILDREN IN CARRIERS?

A:  We leave it to parents to decide whether to bring children in bike carriers. Children under 12 cannot be on their own bikes.

Q:  IS ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT NEEDED?

A:  No special equipment is needed.  We ask that all riders wear helmets and that bikes have front lights.  We also suggest that you check your bike to make sure it is in good condition.

Q:  WHAT IF MY BIKE MALFUNCTIONS?

A:  There is no need to worry.  We have volunteers and representatives of local bicycle shops on hand to help out with unexpected repairs.  Volunteers will be available along the route for the duration of the ride.

Q:  IS THERE A RAIN DATE?

A:  The rain date is September 10.  Check our website, www.lhtrail.org beginning at 6:00 p.m. on the day of the ride for the decision to hold the ride or to reschedule.

Q:  YOU SAY IN YOUR MATERIALS THAT THE LHT IS A FREE, PUBLIC AMENITY.  WHY DO YOU CHARGE FOR THE EVENT?

A:  The LHT is definitely a free amenity open to everyone.  However, the Full Moon Bike Ride is a special event.  The nominal fee of $10 a person helps to cover the costs of the event.  Remember that the LHT is designed, built, and managed by the Lawrence Hopewell Trail Corporation, a nonprofit organization.  Most of the work associated with creating and maintaining the trail has been, and continues to be, done by volunteers who raise the funds to make the trail a reality.

Q:  HOW WILL THE FUNDS RAISED BE USED?

A:  First the funds raised from the Full Moon Ride will be used to cover the costs of the ride.  Any remaining funds will be used to support the construction and maintenance of the LHT, programming that brings the community together, and to cover expenses associated with running a nonprofit organization.

Q:  WILL FULL MOON BIKE RIDE TEE SHIRTS BE AVAILABLE THIS YEAR?

A:  Quality tee shirts with the 2017 Full Moon Ride logo will be for sale for $15 each in unisex adult sizes small to 2X large in dark blue or dark gray.   The shirts are awesome, and you are going to want one! Click here to see what they look like!

The proceeds from tee shirt sales will be used to support the activities of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail.

Q:  SHOULD I DECORATE MY BIKE?

A:  We encourage bike decorating.  It makes the event more festive and fun. Light em’ up!

Q:  HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER FOR THE FULL MOON RIDE OR THE LHT?

A:  The LHT will soon announce a number of ways that fans of the trail can volunteer to help with maintenance, public relations, and a variety of other ways.  If you are interested in volunteering, click here to fill out a quick form and tell us about your skills and availability.
